SG-1 is walking down the hall headed to the gateroom.
SAM
All indications suggest a positive environment.
JACK
Sounds good. (Sam smiles)
DANNY
It's gonna take us 2 weeks to get the
enkarons fully transplanted.
TEAL'C
If the plan proves to be sutiable.
DANNY
It better be. They're running out of
time.
Chevrons are locking on the gate. They get to the point of origin
... nothing happens. Jack raises his eyebrows and looks back
@ Sgt. Davis.
DAVIS
Chevron 7 won't engage.
SG-1 are looking from Davis to each other and then back to Davis.
Sam looks at Jack, then nods her head. She leaves to go to the
control room.
DAVIS
I don't understand it. The diagnostic
shows no problems.
Sam and Davis look at the computer which says no errors.
SAM
Sir, this is gonna take a while.
Jack doesn't look too happy. He looks like he's thinking 'Damn
computers'. Shot goes to the empty, quiet gate.
SAM
It looks like there was an energy spike
in our powerlog about 8 minutes before
we first tried dialing out.
DANNY
Uh ... Correct me if I'm wrong, but
isn't that something we see when another
gate is being used on earth?
JACK
Like when Mayborne's N.I.D. guys had
the other gate.
TEAL'C
There is no longer a second stargate
on earth.
GH
Ours was destroyed along with Thor's
ship.
SAM
But if it was another gate, and it was
responsible for the energy spike, they
would have a seismic trimmer like when
the gate was found in Antartica.
DAVIS
I've got something. (Screen has an earthquake
showing up in the USSR, right in the
middle of Siberia.)
SAM
There was a seismic event that matches
our time in the powerlog exactly.
JACK
Is that Siberia?
SAM
Yes, Sir. And there's only one explination
I can think of.
DANNY
The Russians have a stargate?
OPENING CREDITS! ...
GH
The Russians recovered the stargate
from the bottom of the ocean.
JACK
I thought we swept that entire area?
GH
We're talking about hundreds of square
miles, Colonel. The Russian Navy was
on alert because they spotted Thor's
ship. They must have gotten lucky and
beat us to it.
SAM
And they admit it?
GH Says they didn't have much choice. The pentagon said they
had the evidence to prove it. Danny and Sam wondered how they
figured out how it worked becouse it took them years. The russians
know quite a bit about the SGC, but haven't said how. GH said
how they got the gate opened isn't the issue, the problem is,
it won't close.
DANNY
That doesn't make any sence, I mean
shouldn't it eventually shut down on
it's own?
TEAL'C
The Goa'Uld themselves have not been
able to establish a wormhole for longer
that 38 minutes.
JACK
What about another black-hole planet?
SAM
We would detect the gravitational anomolies,
Sir. (Jack thinks about what she said
for a few seconds, then smiles at her.)
GH says the Russians are devided on how to deal with the situation.
The president of russia didn't approve of the stargate program.
They were planing on bombing the facility and covering it up.
JACK
And now?
GH
One of the Russian Scientist convinced
them to send in a team to see if it
could be resolved in another way.
SAM
Who's the scientist?
GH
Doctor Svetlana Markov.
SAM
Wow! I know her work! She's brillient.
GH
She knows of you, too, MAjor. She's
convinced Moscow to let SG-1 go to Siberia.
JACK
You're kidding.
GH
Jack, They are smart enough to realize
that this has global implications, and
SG-1 is the most experienced with the
stargate.
JACK
General, we're gonna walk into an unknown
situation to save their rosey butts.
DANNY
JAck, we can't use our gate until we
get their's shut down.
SAM
Then there's the potential danger of
having an open wormhole between Earth
and who knows where.
GH orders them to go to siberia and help out. Jack has that cute
'Just great!' Expression on his face.

(Shaking her hand) It's an honor ...

DM

Teal'C.
Teal'C nods at the doc.
SAM
How do you know about the SGC?
DM
I've read extensive files on all of
you.
JACK
The question was HOW.
DM
I learned to read English when I was
six, it was not difficult.
Sam and Jack smile at each other.
JACK

DM
I will tell you what I can on the way.

Inside airplane.
DM is talking about the russians spotting Thor's ship entering
the atmosphere.
JACK
(Playing dumb.) Alien space ship, huh?
DM then says they saw the ship desentagrating in the air. They
recovered the gate after an extensive sweep of the ocean floor.
She talks about the Submarine going missing during the search.
DM
You may be familiar with the incident.
JACK
(Still playing dumb.) Not a clue.
DM Says she was assigned to the program as chief science officer.
They had been in operation for 37 days against the wishes of
very powerful people in the government, who thretened to expose
the existance of the American stargate program. They want to
get the US to share the alien technology they have aquired.
SAM
What stopped them?
DM
We activated our gate. I covinced them
that we could benefit better from our
own program better than we could trust
the Americans.
JACK
Ah ...
DANNY
How did you activate it?
DM
We have a dialing device.
DANNY
The DHD. You found the one from Giza?
DM
It was confinscated from the Germans
after the second world war.
SAM
Now, I understand how you can send your
people thru and get them to return thru
your gate instead of ours.
JACK
That makes one of us.
DM
Our gate superceded yours as long as
the dialing device was connected to
it. We only kept it connected when we
were using it to prevent any crossovers.
It required precise timing, but it worked.
JACK
Until now.
DM
As for the current situation, I really
don't know what has happened. There
has been no contact with the base since
yesterday @ 1200 hours.
CO-PILOT?
(American) Sir, we have a visual of
the target runway. It appears to be
iced over, and there's no responce from
the control tower.
DM
We're going to have to jump.
DANNY
Out ... of ... the plane?!?!?!?
Teal'C looks confused, and looks @ Sam who does the closed eyes
thing.
DM
I'm going with or without you, Colonel.
JACK
(Adorably staring at her.) *Said smartassed!*
I suppose you expect my male bravada
to kick in right about now.
DM
I've read your file.
JACK
No mention of bravado, eh?
DM
There are 47 people down there who may
need our help.
JACK
(Leaning over) Look, You don't have
to tell me what's at steak here. We've
got 7 teams off world who can't get
home until we fix what you screwed up.
DM just looks at him and sits back. Jack sit back too. Daniel
looks at Jack for a few seconds.
JACK
*Into mic on helmet* Stu? Gear 'em up.
We're jumpin'.
LOL! Poor Danny! He just looks up at Jack, looking pretty scared.
TEAL'C
(Holding his parachute) I do not understand,
O'Neill.
JACK
It's called a parachute.
SAM
It slows your desent after you jump
out of the plane.
TEAL'C
This device seams to be poorly designed
to provide such a function.
JACK
It opens after you jump. *Teal'C just
stares with the stoic face we all know
and love!* Don't worry about it! I've
done it hundreds of times.
DM
I assume you've brought the Haz-Mat?
JACK
(Staring at her) Yeah. Thought somebody
should be prepared. (Said sarcastically)
DM
( To Sam) Is he ALWAYS like this?
SAM
Actually, this is quite charming. (Smiles)
DM looks discusted. Plane cargo door opens to reveal ... ICE!
It's nothing but white. Two airmen throw out a big box.
AIRMAN
(Sounds like) *Can't really hear him
over engine noise* Field's ready, Sir!
JACK
(To Teal'C) *Yelling over engine noise*
It's easy! Just jump, and pull this!
(Pulling on cord)
TEAL'C
This does not seam wise, O'Neill!
JACK
I said it was easy ... not wise!
DM
If we get seperated, we'll rondevous
at the base! (She jumps)
Sam Jumps out of the plane.
TEAL'C
This does not seam wise!!!! (Jack pushes
him out the plane!)
Jack put his hand on Danny's shoulder. Danny looks at him, and
jumps. Jack jumps.
Shot of base. Jack, Sam & DM are walking in the snow toward the
base.
JACK
*I guess into radio.* Teal'C? Daniel?
Come in. *Silence* There's been no responce
from the radios.
DM
Their signals may be blocked if they
are already inside.
The two American soldiers walk in the base with guns up.
DM
Up there!
JACK
*Over radio* Teal'C, Daniel? Do you
read?
TEAL'C
*Over radio* I am here.
JACK
Where?
TEAL'C
In the facility.
DANNY
Yeah. I'm here, too.
JACK
Where?
DANNY
Well, I don't know, exactly. Where are
you?
JACK
We just got inside. Hang tight.
Jack's walking up a flight of stairs. Then down a walkway.
SAM
I'm picking up trace amounts of chlorine.
JACK
Yeah?
SAM
Nothing dangerous at these levels, Sir.
Jack and the ladies get to a long corridar.
JACK
Allright, what is this place?
SAM
It obviously wasn't built spacifically
for your stargate program.
DM
It was an experimental power station.
SAM
Experimental?
DM
All I'm allowed to say is it was decommisioned
2 years ago.
JACK
*Sarcastically* Please!
SAM
Are there lights?
DM
The power seems have been diverted from
all nonessential base functions. This
way to the main control center. Jack
spots movement.
JACK
*Over radio* Daniel? Is that you?
DANNY
I don't know. I'm heading down a long
corridor.
JACK
Which one?
Jack flashes the light in Danny's face.
DANNY
THIS one! *Jack lowers his weapon*
DM
This way.
DANNY
Actually, you might want to see this
first.
Daniel turns over a body in a white coat. He's been shot in the
chest.
TEAL'C
These three were shot. I am unaware
how the others died.
DM
These doors lead to the stargate. *DM
punches in a code on the alarm thing,
and passes a card.*
The doors open, revealing the open stargate and many bodies laying
on and around the ramp. DM Checks one of the russians.
DM
They're all dead.
The team walks in to the control room.
DM
I need this station.
Teal'C removes the dead technition from the chair behind the
computer for DM. She types something on the computer. She takes
off her mask.
DM
(Tearfully with voice shaking) It's
safe.
Teal'C removes his mask. Jack watches him for approval. Teal'C
smells the air.
TEAL'C
The air is indeed clean.
The other 3 humans take off their masks.
DM is wiping away tears from her eyes.
SAM
(Putting her hand on DM's shoulder)
You OK?
DM
(Still tearfully) I knew these men &
women, Major. Some of them quite well.
JACK
*Glances at Sam* So, what happened here?
DM
Colonel Sokoluv enacted the extreme
measures protocal.
DANNY
What's that?
DM
The stargate room is sealed, and substance
35 is released throughout the base.
SAM
*Jack's beside her with a confused look
on his face shaking his head.* Nerve
gas?
JACK
Nerve gas?!?!?!
DM
It's OK, Colonel. It's a nonpersistant
gas. It evaporates after 3 hours. (Jack's
looking at sam, and shaking his head)
Acording to the computer, the protocal
was enacted yesterday.
TEAL'C
For what reason?
DM
The computer log doesn't say.
JACK
Alright , people were shooting each
other around here before they got gassed.
I want to know why.
DANNY
I'll see what I can find out.
DM Gives them a list of all the personelle asigned to the base.
She says they should all be wearing ID tags.
JACK
So, what about the gate?
DM
It's an outgoing wormhole, but ... it
doesn't make sense! The EM protocal
cuts off the dialing device. If the
protocal was enacted yesterday, where
has the out going wormhole been drawing
it's power from since then?
SAM
We've seen a one drawing power from
the outgoing destination.
DM
Of course, the black hole-incident.
Sam and Jack look at each other.
JACK
Is there anything you don't know?
DM
*Confused* WHAT were they DOING?!?!?!?!?!?!
DM runs out of the room. Jack and Sam follow her. She climbs
up a storage thingy and opens the top.
DM
It's GONE!
JACK
If I ask WHAT, and you say it's classified,
I'm gonna shoot you.
DM
The seventh address we sucessfully dialed
led to a stargate entirelly submerged
underwater. (Sam looks at Jack) We sent
a recognesis, and found the dialing
device. It was decided that the maned
mini submarine would go next. A sample
of the water was retrieved. It seemed
to have unbelievable properties.
SAM
Like what?
DM
It was spontaniously emiting energy
in the form of heat. If this liquid
turned out to be an abundant clean energy
source ...
SAM
That doesn't seem possible.
DM
I was called away to Moscow before I
could preform any significant anylisis.
SAM
So now you're saying the water sample
is gone?
DM
Yes. There was a sealed container here.
SAM
And the Stargate is connected to the
water planet?
DM
Apparently, but ... that doesn't make
sense. They were supposed to continue
on to the next 2 planets on our planned
sequence, and NOT revisit the waterplanet
until I got back!
SAM
Let's confirm it. Do you have another
recognasis craft?
DM
We left the first one there. All we
have to do is reactivate it.
She runs down the stairs and then down the corridor. Sam and
Jack look at each other and then run after her.
Daniel and Teal'C are checking the bodies.
JACK
*Thru radio* Daniel? Teal'C?
DANNY
Uh ... What's up?
JACK
Head back to the control room. Doctor
Markov thinks you might want to see
this.
TEAL'C
Thusfar we have accounted for 28 of
the 47 members on the list.
DANNY
6 of them were dressed as civilians,
not soldiers. They were shot, and there
was no apparent reason why.
DM
They were the scientists working in
the lab.
JACK
So, the guys experiamenting on that
water gave the soldiers reason to shoot
them.
DM
So it seems.
DANNY
What water?
SAM
A sample brought back from where the
stargate is submerged.
DM
I thought you might be interested, Doctor
Jackson. We found some unusual ruins
of an obviously extinct civilization
on the ocean floor.
Screen show ruins.
DANNY
Can you get closer?
DM
The drone is malfunctioning. I can only
pan and tilt.
Shot goes to Russian sailer dead in the water. DM is ubset.
TEAL'C
Why would those men proceed thru the
stargate knowing that they would drown
on the other side?
Jack raises his eyebrows and cocks his head.
SAM
Can you shut off the drone's transmitter
from here?
DM
Why?
SAM
Well, even though the wormhole only
allows matter to travel one way, we
are able to send radio signals back
and forth.
DM
You think the radio transmitter is what's
keeping the gate open?
SAM
The gate won't close if the transmitter
is sending a strong enough signal into
the event horizon.
DM
The energy from the water is making
the gate stay open this long.
SAM
Exactly. It's a combination of factors.
All we have to do is shut off the drone.
DM
It's not responding to my command.
SAM
How long before it's batteries die?
DM
It's nuclear powered.
JACK
A nuclear powered drone?!?!?!?!
DM
We built several of them planning to
leave them on other planets for long
term observation.
SAM
HOW long term?
DM
*looks around* 10 years.
They get ready to launch the submarine. Danny says he wants to
get a good look @ the ruins. Jack askes how many people the sub
holds. DM answers 3.
JACK
*Sarcastically* Oh, Dang. I've never
been in a submarine before.
DM looks at Sam who looks away. The three are climbing in the
sub. Danny looks around.
DANNY
(VERY smartasses!) Spacious ... roomy!
Very nice. So, exactly how much air
do we have in this thing?
DM
Over a days worth. We won't need more
than an hour.*Sam and Danny look at
each other.*
DM
*Over monitor* Colonel, can you hear
us?
JACK
Yeah, I read ya.
DM
Pressurizing and ... proceding thru
the gate.

Totally awesome above gate shot. On one side you see sub going
thru, on other side, nothing. I love those shots! Sub goes thru
on the other side.
SAM

It is quite beautiful.
DANNY

DM
(To Danny)The rapid pressurrization
might cause your ears to block. (To
Sam, now) As you might notice, There
is no plant or animal life.
DANNY
There doesn't appear to be plant or
animal life.
SAM
Colonel, do you read?
JACK
Yeah?
DANNY
We're counting 5 bodies on this side.
TEAL'C
Several personnelle are unaccounted
for.
JACK
All right, we'll have another look around.
DM says something about turning off the drone transmitter. Ending
transmission over and out. The gate shuts down. Jack says they
will have another look around.
Sub is traveling thru water.
DM
I'm glad you were right, Major.
Sam says that still doesn't explain the murder of the scientists.
DM wonders why the men on the other side in the water were either
forsed thru the gate or felt compelled to go thru knowing they
would drown. Danny mentions the ruins proving the planet wasn't
always underwater. They go look. DM noticed the controls are
getting heavy. She hasn't touched the power, but they are slowing
down. She's pushing it full power.
DANNY
What's that smell?
DM
We've completely stopped ... *Explosion
in back of them*
DANNY
Uh ... fire!
DM
Extinguisher!
Danny puts out the fire.
DANNY
It's out! We're OK. (Sam goes look out
the window in the front) *To DM who's
at the burnt engine* Can you fix it?
DM
Yes.
DANNY
*To Sam who looks worried* What?
SAM
(Danny's leaning against the glass bubble
at the front of the sub) If it was a
strong current, it should be taking
us backwards now.
DANNY
But it's not?
SAM
No. We're completely stationary. It's
like we're stuck in the mud.
DANNY With out the mud.
Jack and Teal'C's checking around.
JACK
What's that smell?
They go to the kitchen which appears to have smoke in it. I guess
they burned the food! Jack turns off the oven. They spot the
ajar door of the freezer. Jack motions Teal'C to check it out.
He opens the freezer ...
And sees MAYBOURNE standing there frozen like an icecycle!
LOL!
JACK
Holy Frozen Bad Guys!
I gotta tell you guys! I DID not know who that was! He didn't
look like himself at all! LOL!
Back to the sub ...
DANNY
How's it going?
DM
I think I can fix it.
DANNY
Wait a minute, a few minutes ago you
said you could definately fix it...
now you THINK you can?
DM
What do you want to hear? I don't understand
why this happened.
DANNY
(ALA Jack O'Neill!LOL!) Well, given
the solid craftmanship that went into
this thing, I don't see how this could
POSSIBLY have happened.
DM
If you're implying that everything Russian
made is of poor quality, actually ...
The sub is Swiss.
DANNY
(Still smartassed!) So they occasially
catch fire, but they keep good time.
DM ignores him. (I DON'T BLAME HER!)
DANNY
Sorry. *To himself* I've been hanging
around Jack O'Neill too much.
DM
(Yelling to Danny & Sam)There was nothing
impeading us. (To herself) It shouldn've
happened.
SAM
Here's something else that shouldn't
be happening. The outside pressure is
increasing.
DM
WHAT?!?!?!?!?! The gage must be malfunctioning.
DANNY
But it's Swiss. LOL! DM looks at
him.
SAM
Our depth is constant, and pressure
should be relative to depth.
DANNY
And if it keeps increasing?
DM
The sub will implode.
Back to base ...
Jack and Teal'C lay Maybourne down on a table.
TEAL'C
We now know how the Russians inquired
the information.
Jack's knocking on Mayborne's face!
JACK
Solid! LOL! (OH! I can't breath. My
daughter's freaking out becouse I'm
laughing so hard!)
OK! I'm OK now!
Some kind of steam comes out of Maybourne's mouth.
JACK
Whoa!
TEAL'C
Do not human usually die when they are
frozen?
JACK
Usually.
Some more mist comes out of Maybourne's mouth.
JACK
They usually don't breathe when they're
dead either.
Back to sub ...
DANNY
So, Slavana, tell us exactly what happened
the last time you were here.
DM
We came thru the stargate just as you
did this time. We took the sub straight
to the dialing device and rediled earth.
The gate opened, and we headed thru.
DANNY
That's it?
DM
We collected the water sample just before
heading back thru the event horizon.
SAM
No trouble?
DM
We had to push the engines a little
harder to get thru the gate, but I suspected
it was a countermeasure intended to
keep the water from flowing thru the
gate.
SAM
It's possible. My research indicated
that the gate actually has the ability
to use density & molecular structure
and a forse being exerted on the event
horizon to determine whether something
is trying to pass thru.
DM
I know, that's where I got the idea.
Sam nods. The ship starts groaning.
Back to base ...
Maybourne moves his hand. Jack looks up at Teal'C.
JACK
Maybourne?
TEAL'C
His heart is beating. Albeat slowly.
He is getting warmer O'Neill.
JACK
Maybourne!?
Mayborne moves his eyes. He looks from Jack to Teal'C.
JACK
Ya hear me? (MB looks evily at Jack.)
Back to sub ...
The engines start, but they don't move. DM turns off the engines
so she doesn't burn them up. Danny notes that if they stay there,
they will run out of air. DM points out that the increasing pressure
will make the sub implode long before they run out of air.
DANNY
Or that!
Sam and DM agree that they have maybe an hour left.
DM
The front bubble will be the first to
go.
DANNY
Uh ... can we stop agreeing on how we're
gonna die, and start doing something
about it?
Back to base ...
MB sits up. Teal'C has his gun on him.
JACK
Allright, that's far enough. *Maybourne
turns* Maybourne? *MB's walking out
of the kitchen* MAYBOURNE! STOP!!!!
*Teal'C blocks MB's path* Move again,
and I'll shoot! *MB turns again to face
Jack*
Maybourne appears to vomit. Jack has a look of discust on his
face as MB throws up what appears to be the water.
JACK
Damn!
MB
Jack ... The freezer!
JACK
What?
MB
*Advancing towards Jack* Move if you
want to live! *Jack puts his pistal
in MB's face.* Shoot me if you want
to! We're dead if we don't move NOW!!!!
The mist comes up from the floor at Teal'C's feet.
JACK
Teal'C?
Teal'C jumps back gasping in the mist. MB jumps on Jack sending
the 2 officers into the freezer.
MB
NO! It's too late for him! JACK!!! You
open that door, and we're both dead,
I swear! Ya can't help him!
JACK
Get out of my way.
Thru the glass , Jack sees Teal'C standing up and walking out
of the kitchen.
JACK
What the Hell is going on here?
Back in the sub, they figure out that the liquid is probrably
not water.
Back to base ...
MB
It's alive.
JACK
What?
MB
The water. When they exposed it to the
air to start a chemical analisis, it
just evaporated. Turned into vapor.
JACK
You were there?
MB
We inhaled it. Didn't give us a choice.
JACK
Who's us?
MB
The scientists and I. I knew what was
going on, but I couldn't control myself.
They wanted to go back thru the stargate.
JACK
Who's they?
MB
Lifeforms. In the water. Countless numbers
of microscopic organisms. Intellegent
lifeforms!
JACK
Are you trying to tell me this water
thinks?
MB
We were killing them They forsed us
to take them back thru the gate. The
soldiers tried to stop us. They were
shooting. If an infected man was killed,
the fluid came out of him and more were
infected. It was chaoes. Only , the
infected soldiers managed to get to
the DHD, and get the gate open. That's
when the base commander enacted the
EM protochol to stop it! The infected
men started running thru the gate, trying
to escape the gas.
JACK
Why didn't you?
MB
I was cut off from the gateroom. I think
the liquid organisms inside me knew
the only way to keep themselves alive
was to escape the gas and freeze themselves.
So they forced me in here.
JACK
You were frozen solid when we found
you.
MB
THEY kept me alive!
JACK
How do you know all this?
MB
I don't know how, exactly. I just do.
They must have communicated it to me.
JACK
This is the stuff that's in Teal'C now?
*MB Nodds his head* How do we get it
out? *MB Shakes his head* Come on, Maybourne!
It came out of you!
MB
They needed to go back. You wouldn't
let me go. I guess they thought Teal'C
could get them home.
Back to Sub ...
DANNY
What if it's a lifeform?
DM
That is pure assumption.
DANNY
That may explain everything.
SAM
After you collected the sample, you
said there was resistance trying to
go back thru the gate.
DANNY
It wasn't the gate causing the resistance,
it was the lifeform trying to prevent
you from leaving.
SAM
And now, it's precieving us as some
kind of a threat.
The glass on the bubble window cracks. The three look very worried.
Back to Base ...
Teal'C's walking down the corridor.
JACK
Teal'C! *Jack runs up behind the big
Jaffa* TEAL'C!!!! *Jack tackles the
big man to the ground* (Shaking Teal'C)
Fight it! FIGHT IT!!!! *Teal'C struggles
with Jack, then throws him across the
room.*
Teal'C goes in the gateroom and closes the door.
Back to sub ...
The three look at the crack. DM hands the americans some kind
of cylinder thingy.
DM
It's all we've got!
SAM
The pressure alone would ...
The glass cracks some more. The bubble breaks, but the water
DOESN'T come in the sub. It looks like the event horizon. The
three humans are flabergasted.
Back to Base! ...
Teal'C is stalking his way to the DHD! He slowly punches in the
address.
Back to sub ...
The three are still looking at the water with open mouths. Daniel
starts walking toward the water.
SAM
Daniel?

up as Jack arrives in gateroom. Teal'C walks up to the event
horizon, and proceeds to vomit the organism out. Jack looks discusted.
The organism comes out of Teal'C and goes into the event horizon.
The gate turns off. Jack walks over to his friend.
